Cinemallunga launches!

The Willunga Show Hall on the eve of our first event June 9, 2012

A sold out crowd on our first night out. An intermission 'Castle' trivia competition.

170 plus people braved a cold night to attend Cinemallunga and see the Willunga Show Hall revived as a cinema on Saturday, June 9.
A delighted audience was treated to a lineup featuring the iconic Australian classic, ‘The Castle’, a Tom and Jerry cartoon, live music from Rob McDade, and a short filmed interview with Robin Miller. Robin spoke about assisting his father, the projectionist for Willunga Pictures in the 1950’s. Robin was filmed in the old projector room of the Willunga Show Hall amidst the dusty projectors, reels, and film cuttings. An intermission Castle trivia comp sent contestants home with trays of rissoles.
The next Cinemallunga event is scheduled for Saturday, August 25 and will feature the Monty Python gem, ‘The Life of Brian’ (rated M15+). The program also includes a vintage cartoon short, live music, and intermission games with prizes to win. The Cinemallunga snack bar is fully licensed and stocked with local wines and McLaren Vale Ale as well as popcorn and lollies.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the first event, tickets for the Aug. 25 session will be released to coincide with the upcoming Willunga Almond Blossom Festival. Look for our volunteers in the parade and around the Festival. Tickets will also be available from the Green Room Café on High St in Willunga, or by contacting Cinemallunga@gmail.com.
Tickets are $12 - adults, $10 - concession and $8 - 18 and under.  All Brians, Briannas, and Brionys (upon proof of ID)  will receive a gift on the night.
Cinemallunga received an Onkaparinga Community Grant to provide an opportunity for Willunga Basin residents to enjoy seeing films locally and, hopefully, make some of their own. Cinemallunga is volunteer-run and proceeds go towards the future purchase of cinematic equipment.
